This is AWESOME! No matter which side you are on in the up-coming Presidential election (Republican, Democratic, Independant) you should listen to this commercial… even i had to agree with much he had to say. Go figure. -shrug-
No CommentsPocket PC Round-up
Brighthand has a nice round up of all the new VGA PPCs (Historically PPCs have had 1/4 VGA screens) out today. Most noticeably absent? A replacement for the 41xx series ipaq. I mean it’s easy to argue that the 19xx series ipaq shouldn’t go VGA… its a direct attack against the palm OS: smaller, less power, less money. The 41xx series is a different story. While the old form factor of the orginal ipaq was dying and HP had yet to release it’s new power-house machines, the 41xx was born. It was sized between the old ipaqs and the super small 19xx, but it had more power than any ipaq out. With built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, most people could get by on the single SD slot (which helped it stay smaller than the competition). The strange thing is that HP priced this little gem between the old ipaqs and the super cheap (in PPC terms) 19xx.
That’s right: smaller, faster, and cheaper the old form factor ipaqs (that were released within weeks of the 41xx) HP sold a bunch of these PDAs. Old the stupid or those caught in corporate legacy situations continued to buy the old form factor. Fast forward to today. HP has released it’s new line. VGA screens. Dual slots. Fast processors. But big. Remember this is a PDA, where is the little guy? Perhaps because the 19xx and 41xx continue to sell so well, HP is delaying the release of the replacements. Hopefully they have not decided to scrap 2 of their best sellers ever.
The ideal replacement for the 41xx would be as follows… consider this a request and a prediction:
42xx Series iPaq

Billboards You Won’t See
These are funny. Some day maybe we’ll have our photo albums back so that great pics like these can have a home.

No CommentsCel Phones, Get’em While They’re Hot
Yeah don’t you hate it when today’s batteries get hot from extened use? I mean driving around talking w/ my hands free kit, I sometimes feel like i should be holding my cel phone in front of the A/C vent. And it’s not just cel phones, my Dell laptop (Hey Dell it’s a LAP-top, not a “passive cooling system”-top) is constantly trying to start my left pant leg on fire. It’s easy to tell where the CPU in this thing is: it’s the part glowing white hot… and speaking of pants and fire: a woman’s cel phone battery exploded in her back pocket and caught her pants on fire.

Some times it’s difficult to stay on top of all the great stuff out there and get out on our site as soon as we find it. In this case, it worked out for the best as we removed the waiting time from a coming soon product to a nearly here product. Listen to dolphins songs streaming across the internet… Yes the article says September but it doesn’t appear to be live just yet, but there is some more info on the site now.
No CommentsPretty Case
Or more precisely, pretty inside-of-case. This is one sweet looking CPU and I do mean CPU since you can see all the guts of this one — and boy is they pretty!

Robots are fun. And though it may be a while until the Roombas of the world rise up to kill us (though I’m watching the lawn mowing version carefully ). Here are a few others that will help and entertain us until they become our overlords.
No CommentsGuest Writer Jeff: Proof I Went To College
This is another great slice of life from Jeff. It was soo funny I had to pass it along.
I was talking to a woman about her payment that was 3 mo past due, and she would not talk to me, she said I should have everything on the computer in front of me. I read off the arrangements we had set up with her, and she kept saying “I don’t know. I don’t know,” (in the kind of way that makes you realize how you talked to your parents when you were 15) until, finally flabbergasted, she said, “Do you think I don’t know I owe you money? Do you think I’m stupid?!” To which I calmly replied, “Ma’am, I’m not questioning the veracity your ability to cogitate such esoteric financial quandaries, I’m just trying to collect a past-due payment.” To which she replied,”Uhhhh…” then she hung up.
The end.
Size Does Matter
If you’re like me, then size really does matter. I think my affliction started through my biking habit. Once you’ve gotten into biking — i mean real into it so that you spend more money than any normal person would ever spend on a bike (which for most people is probably in the $100-$400 range) — it is easy to get sucked into a world where grams matter. Yes that’s right: smaller, faster, lighter is the biker’s mantra. Shave a gram here and ounce there and soon you will flying down the road faster… unencumbered!
Now the funny thing with us bikers is that we often overlook the heaviest thing on the bike in our search for weight savings: the big guy riding it. Trust me, you quickly get to a point where it is cheaper and easier to lose the next ounce yourself… hmm poly-carbon alloy upgrade: $5000… eating less donuts: free… looking less chunky in those biker shorts: priceless.
Two other biker oversights while I’m on a roll. i have to shake my head at the people that trade in a comfortable bike seat to get the lighter weight “racing” seats (read sitting on a hollow metal pole). Then these same people trade in their normal/spandex shorts for special biking shorts with a gel seat. Ah, HELLO, all you did was move the weight to your butt — and most people consider that a bad thing! No offence J Lo. The other thing that I’ve seen on many an expensive bike is 3 or 4 water bottles. Yes that’s right water which weighs 2.2 pounds for every liter or an ounce for every extra 28ml of H20. Trust me 2.2 pounds can equal 2.2 GRAND on some bikes.
Needless to say this is a rant about size not bikes and so i will get to the point. Below is quick reference to the size of some of my products of choice. With dimensions and weight for easy comparison to new products as they come out and attempt to de-throne these as the smallest, the lightest, the best! Read more
