A french woman is looking to become the first woman to row across the North Atlantic in both directions. Having learned much from her first trip, she is setting out in a custom single person row boat that includes GPS, radio, solar power, desalinator and a sealed cabin just big enough for her to lie down in. While her craft and preparations seem necessary for the task at hand, it seems as though on some levels rowing a 1300 lb boat would be more difficult than a lesser vessel.

The makers of Jelly Belly jelly beans have created a jelly bean tribute to President Reagan. President Ronald Reagan discovered Jelly Belly’s wares while Gov. of California. He used jelly beans as a sort of nicotine sugar patch to help him quit smoking.

Paper Grand?
No not that type of grand. A Grand PIANO. That’s right a grand piano made out of cardboard. A mover’s dream or a keyboardist’s joke? Well actually it was built to show off a new process which presses circuits into paper instead of silicon. No plans for sales at this time. Sorry ikia boy.
Laptop Picture Frame
Channel Nine has a new “citizen engineers” section. These techies have come up with a DIY way to create a laptop picture frame. Let’s take a look:
1. Pull all hardware out and throw away the covers
2. Study the hardware modules in the laptop
3. Select the modules that are necessary for the picture frame
4. Build a holding mechanism for the selected modules
5. Build an aesthetically pleasing picture frame around the holding mechanism and the modules
6. Assemble the picture frame
7. Test
It sounds simpler than it is…..

Flash Drives
ArsTechnica has a nice round up of some current flash drives (Flash drives are those key chain looking things that have a USB connector on one side and hold 32-512 Meg of info) if you are in the market for one. I personally like the flash drives that have MP3 player built in.
