Basement DIY

Well, there has been a lot of progress in the basement.  We'll pics of it all up soon. Here are the before pics for the half bath going into the corner of the basement.  A special back flush toliet is being used to remove the need to either raise the floor or bust out concrete – a requirement for a conventional toliet.

Tri 2 Update

Did a morning bike ride today.  Nice day, but my Lucky Charms wore a little thin near the end.  Guess I'm used to more food in my system before the long rides.  The high winds also upped the difficulty today.  Also my heart rate monitor kept fading out – may be time for a new battery.

Record Tax Revenues

The IRS pulled in record income tax revenues in April.  The amount was second only to the final tech boom before the bust in 2001.  Now if we had record income tax revenues that would certainly imply record incomes. Record incomes would point towards -gasp- a good economy.

This might also be used as proof that cutting tax RATES can actually increase tax REVENUES.  Which is really what the big government guys are all about.  Of course such economic theories don't really jive with trying to drum up class warefare.

Tri 2 Update

Finally got back to the pool.  Got a solid 47 minutes of swimming in. I didn't feel like counting laps… is my Garmin Forerunner making me lazy?  ;)

John Kerry On Truth

This is from a few weeks ago, but I wanted to touch on it for larger reasons.  I care less about the specific issue and more the underlying principal pointed out by Sen Kerry:

Sen. John Kerry is defending CIA leaker Mary McCarthy, who was fired by the agency on Friday for revealing classified information about secret CIA interrogations of top al-Qaida suspects.

"If you're leaking to tell the truth, Americans are going to look at that [and] at least mitigate or think about what are the consequences that you, you know, put on that person," Kerry told ABC's "This Week."  — NewsMax.com

John Kerry doesn't think it's as bad to leak National Intelligence Secrets if they are TRUE.  So let's think this through… National Secrets that are true and correct are not as bad to leak as the opposite – which is what?  False Nation Secrets?  And what would false secrets be? Something someone made up that wasn't true… is that even LEAKING anymore if it isn't true?  If you make something up and let it out that would fall under disinformation or perhaps smear tatics – but "leaking" doesn't seem to fit the bill anymore.

Wouldn't "true" classified information be the only kind of information that other countries, terrorists, ect would be interested in?  Otherwise, the information isn't of any use if it isn't accurate,  except of course for the previously mentioned disinformation and/or PR reasons (pro or con).
